Info
Kent Nagano's ambitious recreation for Harmonia Mundi provides an alternate interpretation, varied here and there in tempi, in minor changes of lyrics, and in slightly different characterizations of the various street soloists. Composed By Leonard Bernstein. Conductor Kent Nagano. Conductor Lynne Morrow, Richard Grant. Conductor Simon Halsey. Conductor Kai-Uwe Jirka. Orchestra Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin tracks: 1-8. Organ Sigurd Brauns. Other Igor Budinstein. TITLE added to MP3 cart. Leonard Bernstein: Mass. Jerry Hadley, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Kent Nagano. June 12, 2012. Recorded in November 2003, this was the first new issue of Bernstein's Mass since the composer's 1971 version for CBS, though it has now been joined by two more recordings conducted by Kristjan Järvi and Marin Alsop - both of which I prefer to Kent Nagano's. Had Nagano's been the first version I had heard I'm sure I would have been enthusiastic, but it is difficult to accept the new recording on its own terms when one is haunted from beginning to end by memories of the 1971 version. Mass formally: MASS: A Theatre Piece for Singers, Players, and Dancers is a musical theatre work composed by Leonard Bernstein with text by Bernstein and additional text and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. Commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy, it premiered on September 8, 1971, conducted by Maurice Peress and choreographed by Alvin Ailey. The performance was part of the opening of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D. Mass premiered in Europe in 1973, with John Mauceri. Bernstein: Mass. SME, NaxosofAmerica от лица компании Sony Classical.
