Rush was a Canadian progressive rock band originally formed in August 1968, in the Willowdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario. For the overwhelming majority of its existence, the band has consisted of bassist, keyboardist, and lead vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. The band achieved this definitive form when Neil Peart replaced original drummer, John Rutsey, in July 1974. May 1978. Tour Dates. Archives is a compilation album by Rush, released in April 1978. The compilation was a complete repackaging of the band's first three albums Rush, Fly by Night and Caress of Steel. Originally released with a faded grey cover, it was later repackaged with a darker, black cover. The minimalist cover art recycles the image of the Man in the Star from the 2112 album. On the original, vinyl Fly By Night album, the chimes at the end of By-Tor and the Snow Dog were printed into the fadeout groove of side one. Although Archives has never officially been released on CD, it managed simultaneous gold and platinum certification in the U. in 1995. Track listing. From Rush . Rush Archives. By 1978, Rush was one of hard rock's most promising acts. 2112, ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE, and A FAREWEEL TO KINGS had all gone gold in the U. and the band began headlining arenas worldwide. Sensing that new fans were probably unaware of Rush's first three less commercially successful albums 1973's self-titled debut, 1974's FLY BY NIGHT, and 1975's CARESS OF STEEL, Rush's label at the time, Mercury, re-issued all three in the box set ARCHIVES. Great trilogy of Rush's first 3 releases. Good sound overall esp high end tones. Sleeve shows signs of age though.
Incredible deal. Sounds great. These are quite solid pressings of these albums.
