Soulfly - Dark Ages review: Fierce thrashy riffs, focused and dynamic songwriting, top notch delivery and an extra layer of atmosphere all add up to Soulflys best album to date. Review Summary: Fierce thrashy riffs, focused and dynamic songwriting, top notch delivery and an extra layer of atmosphere all add up to Soulflys best album to date. In many ways Dark Ages feels very much like the ultimate album that Brazilian metal mastermind Max Cavalera has been trying to write ever since he departed from Sepultura in the late 90s. Soulflys Dark Ages caused the bands popularity and recognition to soar. Yes, they were already huge before that becausewellthey were fronted by the former Sepultura vocalist and songwriting mastermind, Max Cavalera. Dark Ages is one of the darkest and angriest albums ever made. Not only did this solidify Soulflys signature sound that everyone knows today, it also caused Soulflys already massive fame to EXPLODE. Although my favorite Soulfly albums remain Conquer and Omen, Dark Ages is one of those cannot be missed records. I would give this 1820
