Beatles’ Acid Test: How LSD Opened the Door to ‘Revolver’Psychedelic drug inspired their masterpiece – but also opened wounds that never healedExcellent pressing, definitely the mono version is the one to own. Very happy with it!
Rleillin
Certainly one of my favourite records of all time. Everything was done with the highest integrity, just like with the entire BIM series. You will be unable to tell the difference between the first mono issue and this one.
Survivors
I'm going to respectfully disagree and say this is one of the worst sounding records in my collection.
Netlandinhabitant
Care to elaborate? An issue with the pressing or the mastering?
Dordred
The Great Pop Masterpiece...in astonishing mono. THE last & greatest Beatles relic to be released by Apple...(except Carnival Of Light where Paul will have to be departed for it to see the light of day. N
Livina
Mine was fine until the final fade out of Tomorrow Never Knows and then two gigantic POPS right at the end taking you right out of whatever high you might be on, natural or chemical. Several cleanings did not fix it. Disappointing as the other mono releases from the same series were spotless and now all these are really expensive.
Nagor
this release is 20 $

My copy has the side the side 2 label on both sides of the record. ??????
Globus
This is a great, impeccable representation of the first issue of Revolver. I’m completely in awe over this amazing reproduction, pick one up whilst you still can!
iSlate
Typical Universal Music Group junk in that the Mono pressing, I guess handled by Optimal, is slightly off-center on side two. I can't think of any label/label group that cares less about its catalog than UMG
lifestyle
Why does this continue to lose value? It just went down $2 overnight. Aren't these out of print?
Buge
They look to be going higher than their earlier Mono's which went OOP a long time back.
Madis
This is a cool review of this specific pressing. https://vinylreviews.com/album/revolver-mono/
Mazuzahn
The pressing quality is perfect, Optimal Media usually do a great job and this reissue is an example of that. However, I have to say I'm a little disappointed in the sound. The clarity is on par. Everything sounds crystal clear but the overall sound is pretty weak. Dynamics good...yes. But the music lacks an intensity that prevents this remaster from being truly great. At times the guitar really cuts and the drums sound prominent but it's not consistent throughout the record. It seems as when the vocals come in the rest of the instruments just fade away in the background and have no real prescence. This has nothing to do with mono because I've heard some great mono recordings that have mighty punch and girth to the sound. I don't know what happened here maybe the original mono masters weren't that great to begin with but I'm not really digging this faint sounding reissue, the bass has almost no impact at all and the low end really suffers. Again I have heard mono reissues with an excellent bottom end don't know why this reissue turned out sounding as weak as it did. I personally think this was mastered at too low of a volume.
from earth
This was my first mono album that I've owned so it was interesting to hear, not only what the Beatles intended to record, but also how musical seperation would occur when the sound comes from one acoustic source. Around this time stereo records were still very much a gimmick so in the same way 3-D movies used to throw objects at the audience's face, a lot of stereo mixes back in the day did a lot of gimmicky pan play, throwing and bouncing sounds left and right with no discernible purpose or intent. In the case of the Beatles, none of these gimmicks were part of their design for Revolver and many of their other early albums. So where does the studio mastery lie if you can't fuck with the pan knob like a spastic engineer on cocaine? It goes into the dynamic range and cleanliness of the arrangement both of which are on full display in this mix. You can tell that great pains were taken to give each instrument and musical element it's own resonate space across every track. Despite the limitation of mono, separation and soundstage are still achieved creating an artificial sense of depth utilizing volume and keeping the instruments from overlapping onto one another. Nothing ever goes wide and spatial but rather it envelopes you and you can hear the elements deep from behind the speaker all the way up to the front of your face.A great album and a great pressing.
Voodoozragore
Very wholesome pressing of this great album. The Beatles in Mono Vinyl collection were done really well, made from the original analogue tapes and mastered really well. Very clear and warm.
Kakashkaliandiia
Another great release in this Beatles Mono series. No surface noise, and a very warm presentation. Some of the best new vinyl I've purchase at this price-point.
Anayalore
Very pleased about this one. Unfortunately I could never find a good quality original mono at a reasonable price so I've finally sprung for this pressing. At about $11 bucks on amazon it's 100% worth the money.
Shomeshet
A superb presentation of this album. The mono mix has some highlights, particularly the clarity of the bass and the drive of the mid-range.
PC-rider
Great pressing, as are the rest of the LPs in the "Beatles in Mono" series. I'm not 100% certain that I prefer the mono mix of this album in particular (although it's really no contest when it comes to Sgt. Pepper's and Rubber Soul), but I'm very happy with this purchase. The record is dead-silent and the remaster is pretty flawless.
Mysterious Wrench
Looks like I have the same one. All runouts match but purple lable.
Redfury
Mine has the exact matrix descriptions here, but it has the purple Capitol label from the 1983 pressing. Did they save some earlier pressings and put newer labels on them later?
Velan
Yes, that is possible. Crowd-sourcing should weed most of that out (like with wikipedia), but probably even a die-hard Beatles fan won't have every single pressing, and as many as there are there are bound to be oddities like the one here. I see a lot of messages in my inbox about people discussing releases, combining them and getting rid of ones that don't have enough detail, but there will still be some that slip through the cracks. So yea, I could see that too.
Melipra
I've noticed this problem with other albums. Maybe people are uploading the wrong pictures?
Phain
No, never heard anything back on this, which is surprising considering all the Beatles knowledge on Discogs. I'm going with my original theory until a better one comes along :).
MegaStar
brianh44 Mine has the exact matrix descriptions here, but it has the purple Capitol label from the 1983 pressing. Did they save some earlier pressings and put newer labels on them later? I seem to have the same version as you. Did you resolve this?
