Info
The Crickets & Their Buddies is an incredibly intriguing album, both because it features the original members of a storied group that has been around for fifty years J. Allison, Sonny Curtis and Joe B. Maudlin were all original Crickets, along with Buddy Holly, of course playing on their classic songs some of which are post-Buddy, and because of the. The Crickets were an American rock and roll band from Lubbock, Texas, formed by singer-songwriter Buddy Holly in the 1950s. Their first hit record, That'll Be the Day, released in 1957, peaked at number three on the Billboard Top 100 chart on September 16. The sleeve of their first album, The Chirping Crickets, shows the band lineup at the time: Holly on lead vocals and lead guitar, Niki Sullivan on rhythm guitar, Jerry Allison on drums, and Joe B. Mauldin on bass. The Crickets helped set the. The Crickets. JD Souther. Get Started. United States. Internet Service Terms. Cookie Warning. Even without Buddy Holly singing for them I still love The Crickets. Allison on drums, Joe B. Mauldin on bass, and on vocals for The Crickets now is Sonny Curtis, but he only sings lead on two songs on this cd because of all the great guest singers they got for this album. One of the highlights though is Sonny Curtis singing The Real Buddy Holly Story. The other standout tracks for me are Learning The Game by Albert Lee who also played lead guitar on most of the tracks and I also enjoyed Blue Days, Black Nights with Bobby Vee
