Balance is Van Halens fourth and final album with vocalist Sammy Hagar. Released January 24th, 1995, Balance became Van Halens fourth consecutive number 1 studio album. It quickly went double platinum- just two months after its release-proving that this hard rock outfit could do just fine, thank you, during the new grunge era. It was later certified triple platinum, in 2004. That's how Eddie Van Halen described the feeling of getting his band's ball rolling on their 10th studio LP. Under ordinary circumstances, that quote might have sounded like false modesty from a guitar god, but when Balance arrived in record stores on Jan. 24, 1995, it did seem a little like Van Halen were starting over. Since they'd last surfaced with For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge in 1991, the sound of mainstream rock radio had changed a great deal. Not that they'd admit to caring about trends. Van Halen got the 1990s off to a very strong start with For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, their third album with Sammy Hagar at the helm. Released near the height of the grunge movement, the LP still became a massive bestseller thanks to huge radio hits like Poundcake and Right Now. The latter song had a very clever video that MTV put into heavy rotation, introducing Van Halen to a whole new generation of rock fans. About Balance. This album, being the last Van Halen album with Sammy Hagar, is sort of a culmination of the bands work with him up until 1995. The album explores some darker themes, sounds, and ideas with songs such as Dont Tell Me What Love Can Do, Aftershock, and Crossing Over Japanese version only. After . a largely sex-oriented album, the band has taken a step deeper into the realm of their feelings. This is a product of many things, including Sammy Hagars newfound fascination with christianity, Eddies attempts at sobriety, and plenty of other life changes. Balance Q&A

Both here and on online auction sites, people are trying to sell the vinyl version of this record for $150 to $250. The most it's sold for here is $84.00. Seriously, it's just unreasonable the way some try to drive up prices...
It's called supply and demand, there is nothing unreasonable about it.
When this was originally released I paid $14.99 for this. I think anyone in the same situation is justified charging $150 because we've all been PAYING BILLS to keep it safe for 20 years! All the people out there ruining the hobby by driving up NEW record prices can eat it if true collectors want to sell classics at a premium.
Some make a cassette entry.
Track listing is incorrect as well. Doin time is track 6 and strung out is after Aftershock. Not enough follows strung out making it track 9
Needs to be updated to show correct track listing without Baluchitherium. As it was never on the US Vinyl version.
